Trick: Backmobe

By kimandre in 2008 Australia, Kiteboarding, My Tricks

The backmobe is my nemesis in tricks, I have been working on it for so long that I can’t really recal
when I started trying to go for it. It’s one of thoose tricks that for me is almost impossible to get
consistantly. But there is a few key points I would like to share with you that might help you out.
The most important part is just not to overthink it to much when you start getting into it, just
focus on the little things and be sure to get enought momentum.

Key points
1. Know that there is two versions of the backmobe, the high (kite high) and the low (kite low)
2. The high backmobe is more inverted as the low backmobe is more about momentum
3. A backmobe is basically a backroll to toeside overrotated
4. There is a million different ways to do this trick
5. The momentum of the trick all commes from your takeoff and your board
6. Send the board as far upwind as possible
7. Keep the bar as close to your hip as possible (even make a tiny pull as you takeoff)
8. If you find that you just can’t get the bar, try to hold on for alittle bit longer

A tiny guide
1. Take off by sending your board as far upwind as possible
2. As your board is still travelling upwards in the backroll pull the bar towards your backhip hard
3. Use your head, where your head will go, the body will follow
3. Let go of your fronthand as you initate the toeside rotation and reach around
4. Imagine that you should now fall into the bar behind your back
5. Grab the bar with your fronthand
6. Spot your landing
7. Bend your knees to absorve the landing
